Abstract
Objective: In order to explore the effects of different concentrations of NaF on resorptive activity of isolated osteoclast. Methods: Osteoclast was obtained from the 24-h newborn Japanese rabbit. The effects of NaF on the activity of isolated rabbit osteoclastic culture on thin slices of devitalized compact bovine bone were analyzed. Osteoclastic resorption was quantitated by counting the number of resorption lacunae and measuring their surface area and their depth by using scanning electron microscopy. Results: The results showed that NaF in different concentrations of NaF (1.00×10 -4 ?1.00×10 -5 和1.00×10 -6 mol/L) decreased the number of resorption lacunae made by individual osteoclasts and decreased the resorbed area per osteoclast. Conclusion: NaF could directly injury osteoclast and inhibit bone resorption function of osteoclast in vitro.
