Abstract
Objective To study the effects of trimebutine maleate and antidepressants in treating irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Methods Total 164 irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) patients were resistant to routine treatment.This study consisted of a 4-week randomized treatment period with trimebutine maleate 0.1 tid and doxepin 12.5mg qn.followed by a 4-week withdrawal follow-up observation period. Results After treated with trimebutine maleate,the overall sympton were ameliorated,The total efficacy rate were 98.78%.Conclusion Trimebutine maleate uniting doxepin is an effective and safe medicine for alleviation of IBS symptoms.
