Abstract
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of trimebutine maleate in the treatment of the patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Method: Sixty patients with IBS were given trimebutine maleate 200mg three times a day for four weeks.At the end of treatment,the symptomatic relief was determined.Result: The response rate of the symptomatic relief of abdominal pain in the patients with IBS was 85.7%(48/56),of abdominal distention was 95.7%(44/46),of diarrhea was 71.1%(32/45),and of constipation was 83.3%(5/6) respectively.The total effective rate was 83.4%.No adverse reaction was observed.Conclusion: Trimebutine maleate is a safe and effective drug in the treatment of IBS.
