Expression of LI-cadherin in serum and tissue of patients with gastric cancer

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical significance and expression of serum LI-cadherin and tissue LI-cadherin in gastric cancer.Methods Serum level of LI-cadherin was measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 48 patients with gastric cancer and 29 controls.At the same time semi-quantitative immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of LI-cadherin in tissue and compared with the serum concentration.Results The expression of LI-cadherin was detected in both gastric cancer patients and normal control.The serum level of LI-cadherin in gastric cancer patients was significantly higher than that in controls(P 0.001).LI-cadherin expression was significantly correlated with tumor differentiation(P 0.01),and Lauren's classification(P 0.05).Serum LI-cadherin levels and LI-cadherin expression in tumor tissues were positively correlated.Conclusion Serum levels of LI-cadherin can reflect the progress of clinical pathology and tumor metastasis.It may be a valuable marker for the diagnosis and evaluation of gastric cancer. 【
