Therapeutic Effect of Afei Timeng Decoction on Atherosclerosis of Rabbit

Objective: To explore the effects of Afei timeng decoction on changes of blood lipids and aortic pathological in atherosclerosis( AS) rabbits. Methods: 50 healthy rabbits were divided into two groups,blank control group was given normal diet,model group was given high fat diet for 60 days to build models; 40 rabbits of model were divided into model,positive drug group( simvastatin),Afei timeng decoction three dose groups by using random grouping test method,each group was given medicine for 6 weeks,rabbits' serum TC,TG,high density lipoprotein cholesterol,low- density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in six groups were deterimined,morphological changes of aorta were observed by light microscope. Results: Afei timeng decoction can significantly reduce the rabbit's serum TG,TC,LDL- C levels,the difference was statistically significant to compare with model group( P 0. 05 ~ 0. 01),and Afei timeng decoction can effectively improve the pathological changes of rabbits' aorata. Conclusion: Afei timeng decoction has a strong anti- atherosclerotic effect.
