Clinical Study on Anorectal Manometry in Patients with Functional Constipation

[Objective] To study the anorectal motility in patients with functional constipation(FC).[Methods]Rectal visceral perception thresholds,rectal compliance and anorectal manometry were examined in 42 patients with functional constipation and the controls.[Results]The anorectal resting pressure and relaxation pressure had no significant difference between two groups(P0.05).Anorectal barrier pressure in FC was higher than that in healthy control.The maximum tolerance of the rectum and rectal compliance in FC were higher than those in controls(P0.01).[Conclusion] There are anorectal motility abnormalities in functional constipation,which may contribute to the symptom of constipation.
