Reflections on Urban Design Implementation

The paper examines the conceptualization and content of urban design in practice,discusses types of urban design,design guidelines,the coordination of urban design and statutory planning,professional barriers to urban design,urban design management and operational procedures.Root causes of implementation obstacles are also summarized. It covers several case studies from both China and aboard,particularly those successfully implemented cases under special contexts.At the end,it proposes a viable operational model for urban design implementation.
