Abstract
Objective:To explore the feasibility of endovascular embolization for treatment of epistaxis.Methods:22 patients were involved,20 of them had tramatic history. Branches of external carotid artery were occlued with gelatin sponge or coils in 15 cases, while occlusion of internal carotid artery with coils were performed in 7 cases. Results:Satisfactory results were achieved without serious complications. No recurrence of epistaxis occured in 2~3 months follow-up.Conclusion:Endovascular embolization is safe and effective in treatment of epistaxis. It should be the first choice when conservative treatment was no effect.
