Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of selective external carotid artery branch embolization in the treatment of intractable epistaxis. Methods 17 cases of invalid ENT conventional hemostatic patients were performed selective external carotid angiography , and in patients with refractory epistaxis line clear the site of bleeding and the reasons the embolic agents embolism. Results 17 patients by superselective external carotid artery embolization , nose bleeding symptoms disappeared completely, the effective rate of 100% . All patients had not occurred and interventional related complications. The patients had been followed up for 3 to 24 months , there was no case to recur. Conclusion Superselective external carotid artery branch embolization is safe and effective in the treatment of the intractable epistaxis, with the immediate effect.
