The Academic Function and Social Function of the Education History Science

the functions of the education history science are divided into two categories, i. e. academic function and social function. Academic function includes four aspects: recording, seeking truth, transferring historical culture and developing education science. Social function covers four levels: using for reference, fostering, instructing, optimizing research ability of education science. Academic function is the premise and basis of social function; the existence, magnitude and nature of the academic function limit or even determine those of social function; social function is the natural belonging to and extension for academic function, social function leads or prescribes the direction and trend of academic function; social function is also an important measure to judge and test academic function.
