Abstract
Objective:To observe the efficacy and side effects of citalopram in the treatment of negative symptoms in schizophrenia.Methods:110 chronic schizophrenia patients were divided ramdonly into two groups, one group were treated with citalopram combined with risperidone and the other group were treated with risperdone combined with placebo.Effects and side effects were assessed with the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS)and Treatment Emergent Symptoms Scale(TESS)respectively before and after treatment 4、8、12 week. Results:The reduction on PANSS score and on negative symptom scale at week 12 were(54.29±26.64)% and(50.55±25.79)% in citalopram group, which were more than that in placebo combined group(34.69±19.77)% and(30.08±18.37)%,P0.001).Conclusions:Conclusion:It is suggested that citalopram combination with typical antipsychotics is effective and safe in the negative symptom of schizophrenia patients.
