Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlations of wavefront aberrations to spherical equivalent(SE) in myopia. Methods One hundred and two patients with myopia(204 eyes) were chosen from our department randomly.Myopic bilateral wavefront aberrations of both eyes were captured by WaveScan wavefront aberration instrument in a dark room, the anterior corneal aspherical parameter(Q value) were examined by Orbscan-Ⅱz system, and the myopic axial length(AL) were measured by A ultrasonography of Tomey AL-2000 Biometer/Pachymeter.Diopters were detected by subjective optometry. The correlations of wavefront aberrations to SE,Q value and AL were analyzed, respectively,by SPSS version 13.0 software to comprehend the correlation of aberration to diopter. Results Data of AL,total aberrations and spherical aberration showed normal distribution(P0.05),but SE,Q value, total highorder aberration and coma showed abnormal distribution(P0.05).Statistics showed that total aberrations and SE had strong negative correlations(Spearman correlation was -0.797,P=0.000),and total aberrations and AL had moderate positive correlations(Pearson correlation was 0.368,P=0.000).But no correlation was observed between total aberrations and Q value,as well as coma and spherical aberration to SE,Q value,AL,respectively(all P0.05).Conclusion In diopter of myopia, myopic degree and AL have important effects on myopic wavefront aberrations. The higher myopic degree and longer AL are,the more total aberration is.While corneal aspherical characteristics has no significant effect on wavefront aberration in myopia.
