Abstract

Based on measurement of surface potential of CeO2 nano-powders,the influence of supersonic time and surfactant concentration on the stability of CeO2 suspension is studied by using such surfactants as sodium hexametaphosphate(SHP) and polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP).The results show that the dispersion of CeO2 water suspension is increased to a maximum and then kept steady with the increase of ultrasonic time. But,with the increase of surfactant concentration, the dispersion of CeO2 water suspension is increased to a maximum and then decreased.SHP is a better dispersant agent between the two kinds of surfactant used in the experiments. The optimized dispersing condition is 2.0wt% of SHP and ultrasonic time of 20 min.
