Abstract

Objective To investigate the curative effect of of artificial nasolacrimal duct implanting in treatment of chronic dacryocystitis.Method Under the guidance of the guide wire, artificial nasolacrimal duct was retrograde implanted from the lower orifice of nasolacrimal duct up to lacrimal sac after topical anesthesia. Results In all 50 patients,49 patients were successfully implanted in one time,no epiphora and pyorrhea, and no obstructed lacrimal irrigation was found 6~12 months after artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation, the cure rate was 98%.Epiphora relapsed in 1 patient 3 months after artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation, and no pyorrhea and obstructed lacrimal irrigation was found. The total effective rate was 100%.Conclusion The artificial nasolacrimal duct implantation is a simple, minimally traumatic and effective operation without destroying the normal anatomic structure in treatment of chronic dacryocystitis.
