Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH),pulse pressure (PP) and large arterial diameter in hypertension. Methods Ninety two patients with essential hypertension were observed in PP, Left ventricular mass index(LVMI) and large arterial diameter with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and echocardiography. Result PP and aortic root dimension (AOD) were significant difference between patients with LVH and without LVH( P 0 01),LVMI was related to PP ( r =0 3, P 0 01) and AOD( r =0 5, P 0 01). Conclusion PP and large arterial diameter characterized the large arterial compliance in patients with LVH in essential hypertension.
