The teaching of English reading is composed of not only of the linguistic schemata but also of content schemata. This paper introduces the schemata theory and analyses the reason why the students can’t understand the reading materials. Therefore, during reading teaching, the teacher should bring the schemata knowledge already stored in the students’ brain and set up the new schemata knowledge in order to made them interplay and promote the teaching quality.
