The Historical Evolution of the Geographical Culture of Northern Anhui Province in the Ming and Qing Dynasty

Abstract

The core area of Northern Anhui Province was Fengyang Office in Ming Dynasty,and Fengyinglusidao in Qing Dynasty. The center of the geographical culture of Northen Anhui Province had a process of evolution. It formed a pattern of one center and many secondary regions,and then became to the situation of several central regions in Qing Dynasty. Control and resistance in Northen Anhui Province continued to appear in the Ming and Qing Dynasty. Changes from the region where the Emperor rose to the democracy and republic,was the result of the control and resistance in it. After the mid-Ming,the decline of official schools became a more common phenomenon. Meanwhile,the academies of classical learning revived,gradually replaced the function of local official schools.
