Abstract
The internal circulation (IC) anaerobic reactor/aerobic process was used to treat the highly-concentrated organic and biodegradable starch wastewater. The great part of organic pollutants are removed in the IC reactor, which relieves pressure on the subsequent aerobic treatment. The operating results show that COD is reduced from 4 500-5 300 mg/L to 220-300 mg/L,reaching the third level criteria specified in the Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard (GB 8978-1996). The biogas produced in the IC reactor can be used for heating the raw wastewater.
