Abstract

Heavy metals are important pollutants and copper is one of them with high toxicity and wide-spreaded. This paper shows the relationship between copper抯 toxicity and its phytoaccumulation. We find that excessive copper can decrease the membrane integrity and the activity of enzymes. At the same time, copper can change the synthesis of chlorophyll and the efficiency of the primary photochemical reactions in PSⅡ. The chelating location of copper in plants can highly effect its toxicity and the cell wall take an important part in copper detoxing. MT and PC are the most important intracellular copper chelators.
