Abstract

Phytotoxicity induced by copper was summarized. The community structure and diversity of the plants could be affected by Cu contamination.Oxidative stress and DNA damage caused by an excess of Cu in plant might be the most important mechanism of the phytotoxicity. So the toxicity of copper could be assesses by the bioavailability of Cu in the soil. The relationship of copper toxicity, oxidative stress and bioavailability in soil-plant system should be established.
