Abstract

Objective To investigate the treatment efficacy and intestinal sensitivity effects of antidepressant drugs for treating irritable bowel syndrome. Methods 120 cases with irritable bowel syndrome were equally divided into two groups:the treatment group and the control group of 60 cases under a hospital order. The two groups were treated by the traditional methods, but the treatment group were added the antidepressant drugs(deanxit)for treating. Results The overall efficacy of the treatment group(96.7%)was significantly higher than the control group(75.0%,P0.05).Only pain frequency efficacy of the control group were similar to the treatment group, the other symptoms with irritable bowel syndrome of the treatment group efficiency were significantly higher than the control group(P0.05),especially the stool sense of urgency and bloating(P0.01).Conclusions Antidepressants used in irritable bowel syndrome patients can improve the overall efficacy which has significantly improved role for the time of the pain, the shape of the stool, the stool a sense of urgency and bloating and other intestinal sensitivity that should be widely applied.
