An Empirical Analysis on the Growth of Total Factor Productivity of China's Service Industry

Abstract

This paper analyzes the growth of total factor productivity of the China's service industry by means of non-parameter Malmquist index.The result of research is that from 1991 to 2005,the growth of China's service industry TFP is 0.4%,technology change index is 3.2%,efficiency index of the technology is-2.7%,and the growth of service industry TFP due to the technology change,in the mean time efficiency of technology gives it a negative impact,growth of service industry TFP is different in east region,middle region,west region of China.Developing regions may catch up with developed regions through technology transfer.
