Abstract
The narration of Zhang Ailing and Wang Anyi are deeply influenced by Chinese traditional narration. Zhang Ailing gave much attention to the independence and integration of stories, But Wang Anyi laid more emphasis on the way of telling stories, not on stories themselves. Zhang Ailing utilized plot and language of legend, Wang Anyi utilized logic plot and language of myth. Zhang and Wang represent two ways of creating stories. “New legend” and “good myth” represent different characteristic of their works and different artistic pursuit.
