Abstract

The paper puts forward the following main measures for management of the lower Yellow River in the light of the reality of a great difficulty in management and special regime: a) To hold the variation law of future sediment and discharge of the river; b) To solve the practical problem of insufficient water resources of the lower and seek a way to divert water to the Yellow River while strengthening the measures of sediment reduction; c) To strengthen the training at wider sections and put efforts on countermeasures study of secondary suspended river management; d) To work out a new layout of the wider sections boundary of the lower Yellow River and; e) To adopt a plan of simultaneous transportation, excavation and diversion for the estuary management, i.e. to confine the flow for washing sediment, transport sediment into the sea, excavate sediment for dredging and divert flood water scientifically.
