Abstract

The gas exchange process of a 6 cylinder diesel engine is simulated by a novel Space Time Conservation Element Solution Element (CE SE) method. The effects of intake system dimensions on volumetric efficiency are analyzed. The basic guidelines are proposed to the design of structural parameters of intake system. The engine volumetric efficiency is dominated by the runner dimensions.High engine performance can only by achieved by optimizing the runner dimensions.
