Abstract
Volumetric efficiency is a very important parameter to test whether the engine has a good process of air exchange,it's also an important guide line to scale the engine performance.From the co-efficiency of excessive air shown on five-gas analysis meter,the quality of intake air is calculated,after compared with carbon-balance method and it is mended,a way to test and calculate volumetric efficiency is deduced.The parameters which may affect precision are analysed,also by using the method produced in this article,the improvement of cylinder head in an single-cylinder diesel engine is analysed,the result shows the method can fit engineering requests,it's convenience and can be used as a tool to study the performance of diesel engine.
