Abstract

Objective To uncover the possible factors of rapid increasing incidence of syphilis. Methods Analyze the clinical data of 194 patients firstly diagnosed syphilis and their spouses. Results There were 114 couples (194 cases)both infected with syphilis, accounting for 58.76%, Among these cases, 49 males firstly diagnosed, 23 of them were primary syphilis; and 65 famales firstly diagnosed as syphilis, 29 of them were secondary syphilis; 4 of them were pregnancy with syphilis. Among 114 syphilis couples, 86 spouses were diagnosed quickly through contact tracing, but the other 28 spouses were not diagnosed as syphilis until 1~3 months later, most of them were latent syphilis, accounting for 69.30%(79/114). Conclusions The infections rate of syphilis between spousesd is high, especially latent syphilis. It is necessary to improve the accuracy of partner notification and the rate of pre-pregnancy screening for syphilis, which is an effective way to reduce the incidence of syphilis and improve reproductive health.
