Correlation research between chronic prostatitis and male infertility

Objectives To investigate the correlation between chronic prostatitis and male infertility.Methods 103 patients with male infertility were selected in our hospital from March 2010 to May 2012.All patients were underwent prostate liquid conventional detection and semen mycoplasma culture.According to detection results,patients were divided into two groups.47 patients without chronic prostatitis were divided into the control group;56 patients with chronic prostatitis were divided into the observation group.Semen parameters(liquefied time),vitality of sperm,sperm deformity were detected.The correlation between related factors of male infertility and chronic prostatitis were analyzed.Results The sperm density,sperm a+b activity,sperm motility in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group;then the semen liquefaction time,sperm malformation rate in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P 0.05).Chronic prostatitis was negatively correlated with sperm density,sperm a+b activity,sperm motility,which was positively correlated with semen liquefaction time,sperm malformation rate(P 0.05).Conclusion Chronic prostatitis can prolong the semen liquefaction time and reduce the vitality of sperm,which can also affect semen quality of patients.Chronic prostatitis is one of induce reasons for male infertility.
