Abstract

Session initiation protocol is one of the core protocols of NGN. SIP is a promising protocol and will be applied in many fields, including the third generation communication, network control, multimedia distribution, voice over IP, multimedia conference, instant message, networked appliance, etc.This paper presents the history and architecture of SIP ,also evaluates the SIP application in every pop fields, points out the problem and gives a direction of SIP application development.
