Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestic fexofe-nadine hydrochloride in treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods A multicen-tre randomized doubl - blind and parallel - controlled clinical trial was conducted. Sixty eight patients in trial group received 120 mg fexofenadine hydrochloride and one simulation tablet once daily and 72 in control group received 10 mg cetirizine hydrochloride and one simulation tablet once daily for continuous 14 days. Then, the state of illness was evaluated and scored by researcher through asking and speciality examination at before treatment, 1week and 2weeks after treatment. Results Both fexofenadine hydrochloride and cetirizine hydrochloride can improve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. The total effective rate was 98.53 % for fexofenadine hydrochloride group and 93. 06% for cetirizine hydrochloride group, and the adverse event rate was 20. 59% and 25% , respectively. There was no significant difference between the two groups. And both groups have not serious adverse events. Conclusion Similar to cetirizine hydrochloride, fexofenadine hydrochloride is effective and safe for treatment of allergic rhinitis.
