Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between antral mucosal tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and Helicobacter pylori(Hp)associated gastritis. Methods Twenty-three patients with Hp associated gastritis,22 patients with Hp negative gastritis, and 20 normal controls were confirmed by endoscopic and pathologic examination.Twenty-three patients with Hp associated gastritis accepted treatment against Hp infection for a week.Gaster antral mucosal cultured supernatant was collected to detect TNF-α using ELISA.Results The level of TNF-α in supernatant was higher in patients with Hp associated gastritis than that in patients with Hp negative gastritis and normal controls(P0.05).The infection rate of Hp and level of TNF-α in supernatant were higher in patients with active gastritis than those in patients with inactive gastritis(P0.05).The level of TNF-α in supernatant was decreased from 17 patients with Hp associated gastritis after the treatment against Hp infection(P0.05).Conclusions TNF-α is highly expressed in antral mucosa after Hp infection, which may play an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic gastritis.
