Use and demand of VCT service among the STDs sufferers

Objective To evaluate the use and demand of VCT among the patients suffering from STD and find out the influencing factors on the use of VCT.Methods 282 cases suffering from STI were recruited in the study by advantage sampling.The participants were interviewed face to face,with anonymous questionnaires,so as to gain data about the use and demand of VCT,upon which qualitative and quantitative researches were done.By logistic regression analysis,the factors influencing on the use of VCT service among the patients suffering with STI were evaluated.Results Among 282 cases,75.53% had never used VCT,69.86% even did not know any information about VCT.90.14% were worried about being infected with AIDs,89.72% thought it essential to accept HIV testing,96.45% affirmed the necessity of VCT.The result of logistic regression analysis showed that education degree,medical intervention,being solicitous about infection,etc,were the main factors influencing the use of VCT among the STI sufferers.Conclusion Among the STD sufferers an extensive demand did exist,while the use of VCT was rather low.It is of great significance to supply VCT service by fully making use of the STDs clinics.
