Abstract

Functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGIDs) are a group of chronic digestive tract disorders with symptoms including distension,abdominal pain,diarrhea,constipation etc.without organic or biochemical explanations. FGIDs are considered to be important to public health because of their high prevalence.Here we reviewed the studies reported at the 6th Shanghai International Conference of Gastroenterology concerning the pathogenesis,diagnosis and treatment of some of the commonly seen FGIDs,such as functional dyspepsia,chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome,as well as the advances in the management of these disorders.
