Abstract
Objective To investigate the effectiveness and complication of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation through a limbus tunnel incision to diabetic cataract. Methods Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation through a limbus incision was performed on 56 eyes of 56 diabetic patients with cataract. Results The postoperative visual acuity in 7 eyes were 1.0 (12.5%),0.5~0.9 in 18 eyes (32.14%) ,0.3~0.4 in 22 eyes (39.28%) and in 9 eyes(16.07%) at one month. The postoperative complications were avoided. Conclusion The postoperative acuity was almost the same as compared between limbus tunnel incision and the scleral tunnel incision. The postoperative complications were less in the limbus tunnel incision than that in the scleral tunnel incision. In cases of diabetes with cataract, the phacoemulsification through a limbus tunnel incision is indicated.
