Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical evaluation of tumor markers CA15-3 and CA125 in the prediction of breast cancer recurrence and metastasis. Methods Using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) to determine serum CA15-3 and CA125 levels of 167 breast cancer patients before and after surgery as well as 80 healthy women. Results Serum CA15-3 and CA125 levels are significantly higher in stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ patients than stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ patients and healthy women. The CA15-3 levels increase evidently in patients of recurrence and metastasis. There is no difference between stage I and Ⅱ patients and healthy women. Conclusion Tumor markers CA15-3 and CA125 have important application in the evaluation of clinical stages and the prediction of recurrence and metastasis, however, they have no effectiveness in early diagnosis.
