Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous amiodarone and lanatoside C for the treatment of rapid ventricular rate in patients with atrial fibrillation and congestive hear filure. Methods Forty six patients with rapid atrial fibrillation, ventricular rate≥120 beats/minute,cardiac function≥second grade(NYHA),were randomly divided into two groups. The two groups were introvenously administered amiodarone and lanatoside C,respectively. Results The total efficacy on controlling rapid atrial fibrillation was 81 0% and 60 9% in amiodarone group and lanatoside C groups, respectively.Ventricular rate decreased by 35% and 25%,respectively.The mean response time was (23 1±8 2)minutes and (50 7±10 4)minutes,respectively.In amiodarone group, one patient developed symptomatic hypotension, and one had the first degree atrioventricular conduct block without worsening of congestive heart failure. Conclusion Amiodarone is safe and rapid in the treatment of rapid ventricular rate in patients with atrial fibrillation and congestive heart filure.
