Abstract
Based on the building structures damages in the Wenchuan earthquake,the measures of improving seismic performance of building structures are discussed.The measures include correctly select site of buildings,pay attention to seismic design of buildings,enhance the seismic fortification standard in low intensity regions,give full effect to the seismic strengthening of building structures,enhance the seismic fortification standard of schools and hospitals,develop study on aseismatic collapse performance of building structures,popularize and apply new seismic building structure systems,strengthen supervision of construction quality,raise national aseismatic consciousness,etc.The study shows that the seismic fortification standard of no collapse under strong earthquake can be achieved only if the buildings strictly follows Code for Seismic Design of Buildings and the quality of construction is assured.
