Abstract

Objective To investigate the diagnosis value of laparoscopic examination for patients with unknown origin ascites.Methods The datas of 42 patients with unknown origin ascites were analyzed retrospectively.Results All of 42 cases were diagnosed definitely.Twenty-four of them were diagnosed as abdominal tuberculosis;16 cases were proved to be abdominal malignant tumor,while 11 of them were metastatic adenocarcinoma,5 cases were malignant peritoneal mesothelioma(MPM);2 cases were diagnosed as hepatic cirrhosis.Conclusion Laparoscopy is a safe and accurate method in the diagnosis of patients with unknown origin ascites.
