Abstract

Liao 99 A is a new BT-type japonica CMS line,which is developed with multiple crosses and successive backcrosses by Northern China Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Center. It is characteristic of stable and complete male sterility,high stigma exsertion rate,good plant type,fine grain quality,disease resistances and high combining ability. Liao 99 A was technically identified by the Seed Administrative Bureau of Liaoning Province in September,2008,and its hybrid Liaoyou 9573 (Liao 99 A/C73) was certified for release to commercial production by Liaoning Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in January,2009.
