Abstract

Changbaishan volcano erupting for many times historically is a well-known volcano in the world. There is potential danger of eruptions in the Changbaishan volcano in the near future. The eruption recorded 1199—1200 A. D. is the largest one for the volcano during the Holecene,whose fallout tephra went east and lots of ash settled on the northern part of Sea of Japan and on the northern part of Japan,over 1 000 km from Changbaishan volcano.The authors made prediction of types,intensity and effected area of the volcanic hazards during the period of Changbaishan volcano eruption in the future based on the huge disaster caused by the fallout tephra, pyroclastic flows and lahars during the period of 1199—1200 A. D. eruption of Changbaishan volcano. The fallout tephra hazards,pyroclastic flow hazard and lahar hazard predicting maps of Changbaishan volcano eruption were made,which has important significance for the prevention of volcanic disaster,mitigation of volcanic disaster and place selection of large engineering projects,such as nuclear power station,etc.
