Abstract
Objective To understand the prevention situation of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), and in order to offer the prevention strategy of sustainable elimination IDD in Guizhou province. Methods Stratified random group sampling was adopted in survey. Results The median of iodized salt in household consuming was 34.9 mg/kg, the rate of qualified iodized salt was 87.2%, variation coefficient of iodized salt was 26.8%, the proportion of high concentrate iodine salt ( 60 mg/kg or 50 mg/kg) was significantly lower than the third surveillance. The median of urine iodine in 8~10 years old children was 340.4 ug/L, the case of lower than 50 ug/L was not found; TGR(The Goiter Rate) by palpation was 10.5%, The goiter rate by ultrasonic method was 14.2%. The mean of water iodine was lower than 10 ug/L; the mean of IQ in 10 years old children was 93.9±19.6, the proportion of lower intelligence was 9.9%. Conclusions Fallowing the concentration decrease of iodized salt and urine iodine and the increase rate of qualified iodized salt, TGR is going down significantly. The concentration of iodine salt can be used at a lower level.
