Abstract
Genetic effects of the fructose content in cucumber were analyzed by using mixed model of major gene plus polygene.Six generations(P1,P2,F1,BC1,BC2and F2)derived from the cross of EP326×KP2were evaluated under two environments including open field and plastic tunnel. The results showed that the fructose content of cucumber was controlled by one additive-dominance major genes plus additive-dominant polygene. The additive effect of major gene was higher than the dominance effect;however, the dominance effect of polygene was higher than the additive effect. The heritability of major gene and polygene were different under two growing environments. The ratio of the environmental variance to phenotype variance was high, indicating that the environment might play an important role in shaping the genetic behavior of fructose content of cucumber. Therefore,we should pay more attention to improve the cultivation methods for getting the cucumber with high fructose contents.
