Abstract

The research discussed the genetic mechanism of fruit length in cucumber.Using the model of the major gene plus polygene of quantitative traits,a joint analysis of six-generations(P1,P2,F1,B1,B2,and F2) from the cross of two North China cucumber lines was carried out to investigate the inheritance of the fruit length in cucumber. The results showed that the inheritance of the fruit length of North China cucumber was controlled by one major gene plus polygene(D model),in B1,B2,and F2 populations the estimated heritability of major gene was 52.28%,18.04%,67.20%,respectively.The heritability of polygene was 9.90%,35.93% and 0,respectively.The proportion of environmental variance in phenotypic variance was 37.82%,46.03%,32.80%,respectively.The environmental factors had strong effects on fruit length in cucumber. The trait can be selected in the high generation selection.
