Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of telmisantan on expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)in renal tissues of type 2 diabetic rats. Methods Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups:normal control group(n=10,group A)and diabetic group(n=20).The rats were fed with standard diet in group A.The other rats were fed with high-glucose-high-fat diet. After 4 weeks,streptozotocin(30 mg/kg)was injected into abdominal cavity of the rats. Then the diabetic rats were randomly divided into 2 groups:model group(n=10,group B)and telmisanta group(n=10,group C).The rats in group C were given telmisantan for 12 consecutive weeks. At the end of the 12th week, the expression of MCP-1 and NF-κB in kidney was measured by immunohistochemistry. Results The expression of MCP-1 and NF-κB in group B and group C was significantly higher than that in group A(P0.01).The expression of MCP-1 and NF-κB in group C was lower than that in group B(P0.01). Conclusion Telmisantan could decrease the renal inflammatory reaction by reducing the expression of MCP-1 and NF-κB in kidney of diabetic rats, which might be the mechanism of renal protective effect of telmisantan.
