The Coordination of Interests and the Transformation of the Ruling Party:A Study on Political Development of the Communist Party of China in Thirty Years since the Reform and Opening-up

Chinese society has undergone dramatic changes since 1978. In the last thirty years, the structure of social stratum gradually became diversified along with some differentiations and conflicts. Facing these great changes, the ruling Communist Party of China has been trying its best to balance the interests among all strata and explore an appropriate model of social integration. Modern parties have two basic functions: representative and expressive. As far as these are concerned, the Communism Party of China has made some effective adjustments including developing the important thought of three represents and the theory of harmonious Besides, the Party is facilitating the political transformation in terms of political input and output. In a word, the Communism Party of China is evolving into a Catch-all Party, which is interactively transforming party, state and society.
