Abstract
The theory and detailed steps of strength reduction finite difference method were introduced and compared with traditional limit equilibrium method and strength reduction finite element method.Based on FLAC,the validity of strength reduction finite difference method was testified. The differences of strength reduction finite difference method from limit equilibrium method and strength reduction finite element method were analyzed. The analysis results show that the nonlinear elastoplastic constitutive model of soil and complicated geological conditions of slope are considered in the strength reduction finite difference method, and the strength reduction finite difference method can simulate the process of slope instability and sliding Surface shape directly using Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, and be suitable for the slope that may arise large deformation. The conclusion was drawn that the strength reduction finite difference method can be used for slope stability analysis and meets the needs of engineering precision.
