Analysis of Citations in Journal of Neijiang Normal University(Natural Science Edition 2008—2012)

By use of bibliometrics and citation analysis,a statistical analysis is made of the journal of Neijiang Normal University(Natural Science Edition 2008—2012).The results show: The journal published 884 papers in total from 2008 to 2012,of which 842 paper used citations,accountingfor 99%.There are altogether 9280 citations,each paper used 10.49 citations in average,and 1859 citations were used yearly in average.There are 7296 Chinese citations,which are clearly in the majority,reaching up to 78.6% of the total.Only 1984 citations are foreign citations,accounting for 21.4%.From 2008 to 2012,the authors of the journal used only 59 self-citations,with the self-citation rate being only 0.6%;only 206 citations are from within the journal articles,accounting for only 2.2%.The price index is 40.9%,with the Chinese literature being 46.2% and the foreign literature being 21.4%;the half life of citations is 5.2 year,4.7 years for the Chinese citations and 9.8 years for the foreign citations;in the total citations the maximal length of quotations is 2 years,the Chinese citations being 2 years and the foreign citations being 3 years.The authors of the journal is strong in using Chinese sources with a wide range of citations and all of them are up to date,novel in content and with great development potential.However,they are relatively weak in using foreign sources and up-to-date citations are too few.Self-citation rate is a big problem and the research done in the articles is lacking in continuity and stability.
