Abstract
Private colleges in Shaanxi Province,Western China,play an important role in the development of private higher education in China.Four private colleges that were promoted to become four-year-undergraduate universities in the year 2005 have gone through the main stages of in the development of private higher education in China.Viewed from the development history of these four private colleges,they had gone through and succeeded in the first vital organizational transition,that's,from being a self-study services to two-year-undergraduate colleges.At present,these colleges are going through an important transition from two-year-undergraduate colleges to four-year-undergraduate universities.Private colleges in Shaanxi are not only influenced by institutional environment but also by market competition in its organizational transition.
