Abstract

Objective To determine concentrations of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in children with HSP(Henoch Scholein Purpura),and to study their roles in the pathogenesis of HSP.Methods Totally 40 HSP patients and 31 control cases were recruited in this study.HSP patients were divided into nephritis group and non-nephritis group.Serum and urine levels of sICAM-1 and VCAM-1 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results ①The serum levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in HSP patients were higher than control cases(P0.05),however,these markers in nephritis group were not significantly different from those in non-nephritis group(P=0.659,0.080).② Compared with the control, the urine levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in HSP patients did not differ significantly(P=0.479,0.164),but the concentration increased significantly in the HSPN cases with severe pathological changes. Conclusion The serum levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 are increased in HSP patients. The urine levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in HSPN patients are affected by the severity of renal damage. The increase of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 expressions plays a role in the pathogenesis of HSP.
