The expressiou of Notch 1 as signal during rat teeth development in dentin

Abstract
Objective To discuss the probable role of Notch 1 as signal in rat tooth development. Methods The expression of Notch 1 as signal was observed by Immunohistochemistry technique in tooth germ at different developmental stages,which were E14、E17、E19 and 1d、3d、5d、7d postnatally. Results The expression of Notch 1 was initiated in early bell stage in inner-enamal epithelium pre-odontoblasts and dental papilla mesenchymal cells.Et was repeatedly expressed in ameloblasts after dental tissue was formed.And negtive in both odontoblasts and ameloblasts after tooth eruption. Conclusion Notch 1 is involved in tooth development.It may be related to the formatim of crown hard tissue.And also play an important role in matrix secetion in early development stage and the triggering of transition from pre-ameloblasts to ameloblasts.
